Kathy is so good for anyone trying something new in working out she makes sure its simple and easy to follow. She never makes you feel like you don't belong doing this dvd. Not very hard but it is what introduced me to to Barre. I have grown to love barre and moved on to harder more form focused barre methods like Barreamped.  Great place to start.

This is a very basic, no frills barre workout. As the previous reviewer said, it's a good introduction to the genre.
The warm up is nice, different from most barre workouts, and it actually warms the whole body.  The lower body section has some good exercises for the hamstrings using a chair, which I like.  I didn't use the core section very often as it was mostly c-curve exercises and those hurt my back sometimes.   My most used sections are the upper body, which is excellent, and Glute Lift, which is a burner!
The music is not disruptive or in any way special.  Kathy cues very well, gives good form pointers and reminders of what you should be feeling with each exercise.

This was one of my first barre workouts (after Callanetics and Bar Method) and is one I think of fondly. She covers all the bases with traditional barre moves. The upper body is a burner with the small movements. Sometimes I found her difficult to follow in the lower body set up and her reps were uneven on both sides. However, this wasn't a deal breaker for me. Kathy is her usual cheerful self and she makes this genre accessible for newbies.
