Welcome to my Knee Friendly workout series. These 4 workouts are designed to tone your whole body without any stress on the knees. There are a lot of mat exercises using different equipment to increase the challenge, as well as standing exercises. No squats or lunges in sight and no kneeling mat work either, so whether you have an injury or have knee pain in general, this series is the one for you! No equipment, no problem - you can still do all the exercises with just your own body weight.

The 4 Workouts are:

Arms and Abs (35 mins) use light weights and a resistance band to intensify seated, side laying and laying exercises. You will see a tough pretzel series, then continue in side lying, next use the band for seated abdominal exercises with arm engagement and finally a laying series just using the light weights to work both arms and abs.

Arms and Legs (37 mins) is an all standing, knee safe balance sculpt workout. You will start with various arms sequences with lower body engagement. Then move into combination sequences with leg raises and arms exercises. Each sequence will have variations with a balance element added. This workout is slow and controlled with a lot of core stability whilst working the arms and legs. You will definitely feel the burn as you work through large range of motion as well as micro movements for the whole body.

Lower Mat (34 mins) is a Pilates inspired mat workout with slow and controlled exercises that focus on form. You will get a lot of core engagement holding various positions whilst working your legs. There are angle changes to target every part of your lower body. You will use a resistance loop to increase the challenge for some of the exercises. Variations are shown throughout for easier modifications.

Core (34 mins) you will use a Pilates ball to increase the intensity of side laying, pretzel and back laying core exercises. You will see leg sweeps, tucks and lifts, pretzel twists and lifts and a laying series working the inner thighs and lower abs. Finish with some mobility work to stretch the side body and continue to target the abs with seated exercises.

What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time. These workouts will hit all those trouble spots and best of all you don't even need to wear shoes to do them! Get ready to sweat, puff and burn - hopefully you'll love every minute of it!
