These workouts have a unique twist to the traditional Tabata style workouts. Fitness professional, Kelly Coffey-Meyer, alternates traditional weight work with straight-forward cardio drills that are truly challenging. This updated format keeps it fresh and effective.

You can choose what results you want to achieve by merely selecting the appropriate weights. The dumbbell exercises can be used to increase muscle definition or to improve your overall strength. Heavy or light dumbbells...it's your pick.

The cardio drills are what takes these workouts to the next level. Each challenging exercise is performed at 100% and will push you to your aerobic/anaerobic thresholds. The success of completing these tough blasts is achievable due to short work phases followed by brief recovery periods.


*Tabata: Eight rounds of the same exercise performed for 20 seconds followed by a ten second rest phase.

Kelly alternates cardio exercises with weight exercises and you are doing each exercise for 8 rounds.
Depending on the exercise, the 20 seconds goes by quickly or seems to take forever.

Of course, I wished that Kelly included a countdown timer in the corner, but she doesn’t.  What she does do is provide voice cues within the music.  A guys voice comes on and says something to the following “round 5  in 4, 3, 2, 1”  So you knew when to go. I thought this a nice feature.
Kelly uses a step but tells you, you don’t have to. She  also (as typical) has a set of light and heavy dumbbells.

Did doing 8 rounds of the exercise get repetitive?  Well not so much.  Kelly changes it up a bit in some of the exercise as you move from round to round to give you more variety.  The weight work is mostly upper body work, which was fine but she did not include an exercise for the biceps.  
For the weight exercises,  working to the beat of the music, I got in around 11 to 12 reps per 20 second.

Love Kelly and Tabata what could be better July 6, 2014

This combines two of my favourite things Kelly and Tabata. It is amazing the intensity and the step really add something that I have never had in any other tabata dvd. It goes quick the time and you are being pushed to the max. I like having weight tabatas with the cardio ones. Great addition to tabata lovers.

Kelly delivers on this amazing DVD! She uses a step and weights but the whole thing can be done without the step and you will still feel the burn! I was impressed and definitely tired in a new way! Kelly will keep you inspired and motivated so that you can keep going and work out to a whole new level!
