The Kathy Smith Kettlebell Solution 2 DVD set is a full range-of-motion toning, stretching, strengthening, weight loss, wellness program for adults of any fitness level and any age. This kettlebell workout is designed for beginners and uses light weights (3 and 5 pounds), but heavier weights can be used when you are ready to advance. Every lift of the kettlebell engages the muscles of your entire body including many of your joints, so you are working your body as a unified whole when doing kettlebells. Kettlebell training is an old school exercise that is now emerging into the mainstream with personal trainers and gyms. Many celebrities cite kettlebell training as the exercise that changed their bodies by sculpting, toning, and burning fat. The Kathy Smith Kettlebell Solution workout DVD gives you four workouts for a lean, sculpted, strong body and is broken out into four 15 minute sessions: upper body, buns & thighs, core, and fat burning. So with your warm up, each workout takes just about 20 minutes of your day. That's 20 minutes to tone and shape buns & thighs, strengthen core, strengthen and tone upper body, and burn fat. On days when you really want to bump up the intensity, combine two, three or even all four sessions to burn more calories and to get your heart and lungs pumping. This workout actually reminds me of the Kettlenetics cardio workout only Kathy's form isn't as good as Michelle's is. IMO some of the segments could be used for light toning if something heavier than a 4 lb kettlebell is used. Kathy also provides good stretching with this.

Overall, this is a decent workout for cardio and light toning and something I enjoyed.

The instructional DVD is well done. The workouts are short and intense (with warm up about 24 minutes) but do not appear to be true KB workouts. She has added moves that pump up the intensity but if your balance is not so good, you could hurt yourself. True KB workouts have a built-in cardio effect and don’t need all that aerobic choreography. I can’t recommend this DVD as a KB workout but if you like aerobic jumping around workouts, it may be for you.
