4 of 5 Long workout you can easily break up February 13, 2015
Reviewer: Laura S. from Rockville, MD United States
The focus of this workout is interval training, you alternate between three minutes of cardio and 1-2 minutes of strength training. The effect of this format is maximized by the compound moves in the strength training segments.Another thing that makes this workout tough is that there aren't rests between each exercise; the workout moves from cardio right into strength training each time, so your heart rate stays elevated throughout the workout.

The workout is just over an hour, but the DVD menu gives you the option of doing just half of the interval segment with two 30-minute intervals workout options. You also have options to do just the cardio intervals, just the weight training segments, or just the abs. I REALLY like having these options because I rarely exercise an hour or more. .

5 of 5 Good workout September 20, 2014

I love all of Jari Love's workouts that I have.  This one does cardio intervals with weights.  I liked the countdown clock.  Jari always has great cueing, and she tells you what weights to use (heavier, lighter).  Modifications are shown for people who may not be able to do, say, high impact.  I do like the fact that she uses the technological term for muscles or exercises that you are doing (like not a "side lft" but "lateral lift")

Definitely in my rotation.  Buy this and you won't be sorry.   It's a tought workout but the moves aren't very complicated.

5 of 5 Love This Workout And Well Worth The Money July 12, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from United States
This one of the best workouts I have ever purchased.

What I like: There are a couple of premixes as well as options for toning, cardio or doing the whole workout. There are also beginner to advanced modifiers and a step is optional. The only thing required are some weights.  The choreography is very basic and easy to follow and doesn't require a lot of room to do.  Jari also mentions what size weights she uses; which I find really helpful.  I doubt I burned 1000 calories as I'm modifying some of the moves; but I felt I got a great workout and will be able to grow with this workout for a long time to come.

What I didn't like: very little. The set is a little a dark (it makes it seem a little dreary) but it doesn't affect being able to do the workout. Also, sometimes her chattiness gets a little off track when she talks about how many kids one of the ladies has--that might also bother some people; but for me it makes the people in the workout seem more like the rest of us.

5 of 5 This is one of Jari's hardest July 11, 2014

I have two left feet, but could handle the choreography. This is just tough stuff. It is doable, but I can't do it and not know I'm being really challenged, and I consider myself an advanced exerciser. I would like to see another one like this again.

5 of 5 Tough and Deceiving March 31, 2014

This is a really good workout.  Very basic but tough choreography.  I did the whole thing using the step and advanced modifications and I although I don't think I burned 1,000 calories, I was probably very close to that. There are compound movements were you think you can do at a certain weight and all of a sudden you are in the middle of the set and there are tons of repetitions left to finish.  I really thought this workout was going to be easier as I'm used to Cathe and Tony, but it was not.  As far as Jari's form, she has mentioned she is not very flexible and you can't blame her for that, that is why there are several exercisers at all levels so everybody can follow the one that matches their level of strength and flexibility.  Also, the DVD has chapters, one can do the whole workout or choose one of the shorter workouts.  Highly recommended.

4 of 5 Ripping good workout! November 11, 2009
Reviewer: Kate Tucker from Spicer, MN United States
Good Jari workout! Alternating very basic cardio with compound weight work. Cardio is good with three levels of intensity and can be done on the floor or step. Modifier shows really easy version. Only a few high impact moves - the rest were just moderate impact. Got HR up nicely, then comes down. Jari says interval workouts are better than steady state for keeping metabolism boosted all day. A little shoulder intensive but all body parts worked well. Whole workout is pretty long, with pushups and abs and cooldown after main body of the workout. Premixes incorporate the pushups/abs for about a 40 min workout. Great upbeat music with a heavy beat. Worked really well. Jari seems more lighthearted in this one.

5 of 5 TOUGH! But WONDERFUL! November 11, 2009
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from RI United States
According to my heart rate monitor, I burned about the same amount of calories doing this workout as I normally do running for an hour on my treadmill! Great lower weight/higher rep strength training & the cardio was tough too. I used the step but some of the background exercisers do it without. Lower impact moves are shown for the cardio portions as well so it is a routine that can be modified for various fitness levels. I feel thoroughly worked out when I am done with this routine. I always do both 30-min sessions but it is nice to have the option to split it if you are short on time. Definitely one of my favorites!

4 of 5 Best Jari to date October 31, 2009
Reviewer: B from Los Gatos, CA United States
I've done this workout once and I believe it's the best Jari.    I'm not a big Jari fan, truth be told, but I liked this combination and I like that it has premixes for separate cardio and separate weights.     For the cardio portions I did what I could on a bosu, and liked that addition quite a bit.

What I didn't like:    the outfits, and in my opinion Jari has poor form on some of the squats and lunges.... she just looks like she doesn't really want to do them so does them sort of half-heartedly.

Today was the 1st day I did this workout and all I can say is wow!!! This is one of her best dvds yet! The intervals were fantastic and let me say not as easy as you think they would be! I loved each interval and it will be a love/hate realtionship with this workout! The music is finally much better than her previous dvds. I love her other latest one too the Extreme ripped series. Keep them coming Jari!
