First, you do need dumb bells for this workout. They do show resistance band alternative but it's just not as effective. Resistance bands do work however as an alternative to pull ups.
I use a pair of dumb bells with changeable plates. It only takes a few seconds to change the weight.
The workouts themselves are very good. Of course, you will see similarities between this workout and others. I mean, a bicep curl is a bicep curl. The workouts range from specific body parts (i.e Chest Shredder) to Metabolic workouts. The metabolic workouts have more cardio, but even some of them use weights.
There is a lot of variety in the overall program. I'm on day 5 and I'm pretty sore, so, It's definitely effective. It's also low impact and shouldn't be hard on the joints.
If you like resistance training/weights and want to lose weight, and don't want to spend a lot of money, you can't get much better than this.
