5 of 5 Excellent workout April 2, 2018
Reviewer: Tipi from Annapolis MD
I had two other Amy Dixon workouts and this is a good addition to my collection.  She is an enthusiastic teacher and the mix between cardio and strength segments were outstanding and fun to do.  She also always has a modifier and this is a real plus.  A strong 10 stars.

This is a circuit type wkout.  After a nice (approx. 9 min) warm up you go into toning.  Amy starts w/ a basic move then makes it harder, creating a compound move that will get your heart rate up nicely.  She doesn't kill you w/ endless reps, just enough to push you.  The moves are all familiar things so you can really get into it and work hard.  Then you have a cardio segment set up the same way where you start w/ a basic move then change it to make it harder.  Again, the moves were athletic type w/ nothing dancy or complicated.  My heart rate was up there for almost the whole time!  I loved it.  In the end you do core work where she shows you a move then you do it for 1 minute.  I like this format because it gives you a chance to really focus on the move, get proper form and feel the work.  This is also when you can slow down and catch your breath.  This is an excellent workout!!  You won't be disappointed.

I have all of Amy Dixon's Dvds I love her...she creates effective and fun routines. This is no different and she uses the step to add some challenge. It has great movements to make your balance and strength grow.

3 of 5 Tough But Missed Half the Upper Body July 4, 2014
Reviewer: Bubbles76
I think this could probably be billed as an aerobic weight training workout.  I loved Amy's personality, the fact that there were modifications, most of the exercise choices, and that the moves progressed from basic to more advanced. I am glad that I had done some Cathe work, because most of the blasts reminded me of what Cathe has done in many of her workouts. Moves like flying over the steps, frog hops onto the step, power hops onto the step, etc.

I felt that this dvd moved a bit too fast to really heavy up on the moves. Additionally, I don't feel as though the warm up was really a warm up. I felt like we jumped right into the cardio portion of the routine without much warning. Also, the dvd had lots of work for back, legs, and shoulders but really skimped out on the chest, biceps, and triceps. There may have been one move for each of them. I didn't really feel the upper body was equally worked.

This workout was effective, fun, and creative. Lots of functional, efficient moves that work multiple muscles and your balance. The cardio segments are simple but will get your heart rate up. Love that there is a modifier so the workout is accessible to all fitness levels.  This is my 4th Amy Dixon DVD purchase, and I definitely will be adding her other workouts to my library. Friendly and motivating, she gives great form pointers.

5 of 5 LOVE IT! November 22, 2010

This is a 60 min strength & cardio w/o.  You will need a step bench & dumbbells.

you learn a base move and build on it to increase intensity. She does a strength set & then a cardio set. Some of the cardio got anaerobic.  All the cardio is straight forward & athletic. The strength work starts with a LB move and then  adds in an UB move & often a balance challenge. The sequencing of the moves makes this workout totally do-able yet tough.

I like Amy & this workout. Tough but fun, athletic and easy to follow but not boring or repetitive. This is a fantastic workout and while I wasnt lifting heavy- my muscles were worked by the end. I would rate this workout lower advanced. Great instructor with clear & precise instructions
