I don't quite understand the negatives some have suggested about this video. I find it just right for days when I am scrunched for time and want to get a good bang for the buck so to speak. It is clean and professional, requires minimal equipment, I like graduated cardio working up to a real blast and compound exercises. This has it all. The instructors are great. Thanks.

Amy Dixon Double Down

I like both Amy Dixon and Paul Katami. Both are capable and strong trainers. I liked the switch-off method in Double Down. By the time it felt like cardio was killing me it was time to do very effective strength routines that still kept my heart rate up. BUT I can't give the workout the 4 and 1/2 or 5 stars I would have easily given it because it's not chaptered. How is that even possible these days? Nearly all DVD workouts are chaptered.
Without chaptering there's no way to skip moves that might be troublesome for injury, no way to combine the workout or add on to other workouts and no way to shorten the workouts for time. So Double Down gets used a lot less than workouts by Angie Miller or Cathe Friedrich. I have to give this one a three for lack of ease in using it.

The first time I did this workout I thought.....ok. The 2nd time I did it I thought WOW!! I love Paul and Amy and think they worked really well together. The workout starts with Paul doing the warm up, then after about 4 minutes you move into his 2 minute segment. It starts with a simple move like a lateral lunge into a back lunge holding weights. After 1 minute you do the same move adding the weights, doing the lateral lunge with lateral arm lift, the back lunge has a front raise added. Amy has 2 minutes of cardio, she changes the move after 40 seconds making it more challenging, so the last 40 seconds can be tough! These start to add up through the wkout making it a decent calorie burner. There are 8 "rounds" total. Its not crazy hard so you can focus on form but I did have my heart rate up there and was sweating! It was fun and less than an hour total.

I was so excited to try this as soon as I received it but to be honest I could not wait for it to be over with.I can't really pinpoint what gave the workout serious dread factor for me-it wasn't especially long,at about 45 minutes and I was drenched-I just knew during the last 5 minutes that I would not be reaching for this again. The format was similar to Amy's new Breathless 4 DVD and I loved that one. It's not that the workout was too challenging,as I consider myself an Intermediate to Advanced excercises-I guess I just didn't connect with this particular workout.I didn't like any of Amy's previous Breathless dvd's-I plodded my way through them, praying for them to end and that's how I felt about this
