Having a flexible body doesn't mean you have to roll yourself into a ball or bring your legs into a split," says instructor Lakey Evans. "Good flexibility means having muscles that are not tight and joints that are not stiff." Dynamic Firming and Flexing uses fitness, dance, and physical rehabilitation movements to strengthen weak muscles and loosen tight joints. A live harpist and drummers provide music. Among the flexible participants, two offer modifications. The 60-minute video consists of 3 separate flexibility routines
Total Body Workout (16 minutes)
Starting with plenty of attention to the neck, Evans moves into a relaxing series of standing, yoga-inspired, whole-body stretches and range-of-motion exercises--perfect for a break in a stressful day.
Upper Body (23 minutes)
This segment is misnamed: It is not an upper-body routine, but a long, whole-body flexibility routine focusing as much on hamstrings and hip flexors as on back and arms. Some stretches are done standing, others sitting and assisted by a latex exercise band (not included).
Lower Body (21 minutes)
A good variety of stretches lengthen and relax all the lower-body muscles, especially targeting tight places such as the lower back, calves, and hamstrings. Many of the stretches are yoga inspired. Others use the exercise band.
