Energizing cardio that leaves you feeling good |

I just walk/jog for cardio but I recently bought Barefoot cardio and tried it tonight- because I was too lazy to go upstairs and get my sneakers! The workout got my heart rate up. Its easy to use full range of motion and get a good aerobic workout. The moves felt effective, the cardio was easy to follow, I felt my upperbody work in the shoulders and triceps. Ellen is a friendly instructor, she cues well, she appears genuine and seems to enjoy what she is doing. I like that modifications are also shown. This workout left me feeling energized, not wiped out. In the past, I have really only used advanced strength dvds and walking for fitness, I will add this to my cardio now. During some parts, I felt my muscles worked just as much in this type of movement as they do with the heavy lifting workouts. I will be buying more of Ellen's dvds

I was not sure I would want to do a workout without shoes as I have so many problems with my feet and wear orthotics. However, doing this DVD without shoes has not caused any problems at all. Amazing. This DVD is fun, has cardio and toning and the time flies by. It is my first DVD of Ellen Barrett and I liked it so much, that I just ordered 4 more different workouts of Ellen's. Barefoot Cardio has taught me to be more graceful while giving me a good workout. I am quite clumsy and have a hard time following most DVD's that have you flinging your arms and legs around in different directions but I don't have that problem with this one. Yes, there are plenty of varied steps that incorporate arm movements but it is at a pace that I can keep up to and transition easily. I look forward to doing this workout and feel great after doing it. Ellen's instruction method is clear and her cuing is very good making it easy to follow.

About the instructor: Ellen is friendly and motivating, without being overly perky. She has a positive attitude. About the workout: the workout promises to be a more intense follow up to Fat Burning Fusion, and it does indeed take it up a few notches. Pros: low impact; combines cardio with stretching and toning; leaves you feeling nicely worked out without being exhausted. Cons: there is a bit of a pony/happy feet overkill; the music is a bit bland.

I was so excited about this followup to Fat Burning Fusion and it didn't disappoint! Ellen does a lovely job cuing and this workout definitely takes the cardio up a notch in intensity from FBF. I think it's more of a mix between FBF and her Crunch workouts. There is definitely a toning benefit~my hamstrings were sore the next day after I tried it from the releves! I highly recommend this workout~you get good cardio in there and feel wonderful when it's done.

Ellen's Barefoot Cardio: |

Before it was released, the "rumor" (from Ellen's Studio itself) was that this would be be similar to Fat Burning Fusion, but I'm not sure that's so. I AM sure I like both of those, though! FBF seemed more toning emphasis than this was; this really was cardio! And, I was kind of surprised, since it was basically all done in the "space" of a yoga mat. I'm sure there was some toning benefit (and Ellen lists a zillion benefits to working out barefoot---she's like a "commercial" for barefoot workouts!), but the primary point of this IS cardio. As such, it is completely unqiue from the other Studio workouts; a little similiar to her green or blue Crunch workouts. I'm solidly intermediate and tend to love int/adv (though not adv) workouts, and I really had a very nice unexpected sweat with this! Ellen is lovably good spirited as always, and she cues well as ever. Instructions are clear; she prepares you for each upcoming move. Also, I would add that this is QUIET cardio, so if you are searching some something that would allow you to workout without disturbing others, try this! It's also non-impact (follow the modifier) so perhaps a good choice for the joint conscious. Ladylike and graceful for those who (like me) dislike athletic moves. And, if you have coordination issues, may I say that I think ANYONE can follow Ellen. :)
